This Craftsman, two-story house plan enjoys an inviting front entry that is framed in columns. A two-car, front-entry garage works well for a narrower lot and decorative garage doors add to the home's curb-appeal. Vertical siding and stone accent the cedar shake exterior. The great room is cozy with a coffered ceiling and fireplace. A single dining area is spacious enough for family gathers and while open, maintains distinct space with columns and a tray ceiling. The kitchen features and angled island and just steps away is a storage pantry. An over-sized utility room also serves as a mud room for clean-up before entering the home. The expansive downstairs master suite features a tray ceiling and windows for rear views. The master bathroom enjoys a dual-sink vanity, soaking bathtub, and walk-in shower. A study/bedroom with full bathroom, powder room, and plenty of storage completes the first floor.

      I'm wanting to build a retirement home, similar to this with a master suite, one other bed/flex room,full bath, and only one dining area on the main floor. I like the basic layout. I agree with Linda about not wanting to enter the house from the garage through the laundry. I would make the current laundry area a drop zone only. I would also make the second bath accessible from the hall, eliminate the half bath, and expand the current pantry/ laundry area to make a large utility space. However, I do like a window in the laundry! Also thinking about placing master bath at rear, with access to porch/ outdoor living area.

      This plan has a lovely front elevation. Suggested revisions: 1.Most women don't like to be haunted by the laundry every time they enter the house through the garage. Recommend finding an alternate location for the laundry. 2. The niche is a nice touch but wasted on a family house that can never have enough closet space. Recommend moving the small coat closet away from its current location near the stairs and placing a large closet when the niche currently resides. 3. These attached pdfs are some additional ideas using primarily the current foot print area.

      I think perhaps pushing the master bed room back to allow room for a washer and dryer room and a closet and bench seat in the entry way from the garage and possibly finding room upstairs for a linen closet would be great.

          Pocket doors for the downstairs study/bedroom. That provides more usable wall space.
