House Plan 1520 | Two-Story Craftsman

Conceptual house plan 1520 is a Craftsman design with two floors of living space. House Plan 1520 is an updated version of The Mosscliff plan 1338-D with a second story instead of a walk-out basement. The front façade enjoys rustic elements with stone accents and decorative wooden brackets in the gables. Board-and-batten contrasts with a simple siding while a metal accent roof and tapered columns enhance curb-appeal.

The foyer offers a coat closet for guest and opens directly into an elegant dining room with a coffered ceiling treatment. The great room features a fireplace, vaulted ceiling, and double doors that open to a spacious rear porch that can be screened if the homeowner chooses. The gourmet kitchen provides an island that doubles as a serving bar and a wet bar and pantry are nearby. The bedroom/study, with walk-in closet, is just steps from a luxury utility room and a full bathroom. The master suite is a private retreat and features a tray ceiling, impressive walk-in closets, and an opulent bathroom with a double sink vanity, freestanding bathtub, and walk-in shower.

Two staircase lead to the second floor and a balcony overlooks the great room. Two bedrooms, each with a walk-in closet, share a Jack-and-Jill style bathroom and one side offers a double sink vanity. An optional room is available for an office or gym and an optional bonus room provides square footage for expansion as needed. Second floor of conceptual house plan 1520.

I think this finally may be the one! Except we don’t need the 2nd story. Can it be altered when ordered, to leave that off, or is that too major? Previously, the Oliver was my favorite but we only need two bedrooms (empty-nesters) and this kitchen is larger. Do need basement stairs, though.

Hi Elizabeth, you would definitely need to request a modification to see what would be possible if you wanted to eliminate a second floor. That would include structural changes to the plan. It would likely be easier and more cost efficient to modify a one story design. The Rowan Plan 1366 is a one story design with two bedrooms and it can be ordered on a basement foundation. Completely agree with Elizabeth ... we are also empty-nesters, looking for this exact floor plan on the main living area. I wouldn't want the 2nd story either .. and would also want stairs for a basement. I've also looked at the Rowan and it doesn't appeal to me at all. THIS is the floor plan (main level) that we are wanting . 1 bedroom on one side and another nice sized bedroom with a private bath on the other side of the house, with the open living in the middle. LOVE this plan ...

I really like this plan. I would need a basement staircase behind the fireplace and don't really see a need for the second staircase by the garage though. Love the huge kitchen and open floor plan.

I love so much about this plan, except for the study/bedroom and second stairway. The downstairs bedroom would be a great guest bedroom if the bath had access. I'd love to see the utility room and bathroom flipped, as well as a half bath added instead of one of the stairways. If the downstairs bedroom is used as a full time bedroom, likely an owner wouldn't want guests using that as well.
