Conceptual Design 1544 is a two-story version of The Whitcomb house plan 1218-D. The exterior is rustic with decorative gable brackets and a natural wooden frame over the front porch. Stone and siding complete the façade with board-and-batten accents on the gables. The rear elevation is dramatic with wooden beams highlighting the rear porch and a turret-style roof over the master bedroom.

A cathedral ceiling continues from the front porch inside to the foyer. The dining room is to the right with columns defining the space and a tray ceiling. To the left, a barn door opens to a study/bedroom suite with a dramatic tray ceiling, access to the rear porch, a vestibule closet, and access to a full bathroom. The great room features a fireplace flanked by built-in bookshelves and a cathedral ceiling extends to the rear porch. A window allows rear views from the kitchen and an island and nearby pantry and wet bar make this space highly functional.

The garage entry offers a mud hall with a coat closet and a space tucked away for a built-in bench, storage, and a linen closet. The utility room is adjoining with abundant counter space and a laundry sink. A pocket door accesses the master bathroom for convenience.

The master suite is elegant with a decorative ceiling and bayed windows. The suite also offers access to the rear porch. Dual closets and sinks are useful for couples and the master bathroom is a true retreat with a freestanding bathtub and a large walk-in shower.

Two bedrooms are upstairs with a full bathroom. A gallery loft offers 36" built-in shelves for books and a linen closet while an optional bonus room with closet is great for a guest suite or media room.

I would like for the great room to be bigger. A four bedroom house means lots of people and lots of furniture. I would extend it onto the patio space 4 feet. I agree with the 1/2 bath on main floor. Love barn doors! Also, I would like to see the bay window go away in master and just square out the space. Also, the house would be perfect for me if it had a 3rd car bay with RV door!!!! Finding house plans with bedroom and a bonus upstairs has been very difficult to find.

      1. I agree with the 1/2 bath. downstairs but would also want to make the bath an ensuite on the main floor. This would be possible with the added 1/2 bath. 2. Would also like each bedroom upstairs to have a bath. 3. Love that the laundry room is accessible from the master bath. 4. Love the walk in pantry with barn door. 5. I would square off the master bedroom. I don't prefer the bay window look in there. I do believe people want more function these days as opposed to big and flashy. Love a lot of the plans!

1543's big sister! And again, beautiful. Front dining/rear kitchen is a preferable layout (for me). This design can go from start to finish through life, from before kids to empty nest. The obvious spot for main floor half bath is mud hall, the seat could become a "functioning seat" :) Just have to figure out where to put a linen closet (a real one, cabinet in front of bath 2 toilet is just that, a cabinet). I've been a DAG fan for years, really admire the "classic" creativity.

I second the comment that 1/2 bath downstairs is a must. I love the two bedrooms, bath and bonus upstairs. That is hard to find!

I love this plan. I like the two bedroom on the main floor, each with a full bath, and two more bedrooms upstairs. Exterior is beautiful. Please let me know if this plan is finalized.
