New Conceptual Designs!

Many of you have made comments on our conceptual designs. Thank you! We strive to provide designs that fulfill those desires. We incorporate your recommendations into new designs when and where our design development program allows. To-date, common and helpful suggestions have included:

  • Save space by providing just one main eating area. (with one main eating area, we locate it to the rear of the house to take advantage of rear views and to be open to the Kitchen and Great Room).
  • Provide his-and-hers closets in the master suite,
  • Include a mud area,
  • Make the Laundry/Mud room larger (pets, heavy clothing, sports equip.) and give it an exterior door, and don’t pass thru from the garage,
  • Make sure there’s a man-door into garage from the exterior,
  • Add a screen porch,
  • More storage,
  • Add a pantry to the kitchen,
  • Separate toilet room in the bathroom where possible.

  • Please keep the comments coming!! In order to submit comments, just click on the “Submit Comments” button located on the right hand side of each Conceptual Design.

We've added descriptions to our most recent plans so that you can see how we are implementing your suggestions into our designs. Follow the links below to view plan details and descriptions.

Builders Meet to Discuss House Plan
    Design Trends

In April, a group of residential builders from across North America held their biannual Residential Coaching Group meetings in the Donald A. Gardner Architects offices in Greenville, SC. Along with receiving a presentation by Don Gardner and staff on current design trends, the group met to review best practices and share ideas about the management of their individual companies. The local member hosts for the group’s meeting were Todd and Michelle Usher of Addison Homes.

Donald Gardner Architects offers modification services now with faster turnaround times.

    Featured Design:
    Plan 1254-D The Silvergate

Arched openings over the garage doors and a metal accent roof are just two of the thoughtful exterior details that lend curb appeal to the Silvergate.

The details continue on the interior of the plan. The main level includes a great room and bedroom/study with coffered ceiling details along with an open kitchen and dining room arrangement that simplifies entertaining. The master bedroom features twin walk-in closets and a bay window that easily accommodates a sitting area. Outdoor living space is abundant, with a screen porch off the dining room and an oversized, sky lit covered porch on the rear.
